This marks the first time that the Maple Leafs have dropped their opening playoff series in 5 consecutive seasons. They now have the NHL’s 2nd longest losing streak in potential series clinchers (8) and have lost 5 straight Best-of-7 series (Longest franchise streak: 7 from 1969-77).

Back in January, Amazon Prime Video and NHL Original Productions announced All or Nothing: Toronto Maple Leafs, a multi-episode docuseries that will offer an inside view of the iconic Toronto Maple Leafs including on-the-ice action and unparalleled behind-the-scenes access to the 2020-21 NHL season. Don’t bother watching it… it ends the same way as all previous seasons since 1967… NOTHING!

The Montreal Canadiens eliminated the Toronto Maple Leafs with a 3-1 victory in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup First Round at Scotiabank Arena. Montreal, which trailed the best-of-7 series 3-1 before winning three straight games, were heavy underdogs and not expected to come out of Round 1.
