What Good Are Statistics Anyway?
Ever wonder why we have stats and what purpose they serve? Statistics trap us into analysis paralysis. No amount of statistical analysis can ever produce certainty.
Having said this, I did a little analysis based on the standings from Week #1.
Do you know that over the past 9 seasons, 3 out of the top 4 winners were actually in the top 4 when week #1 standings were published to start the season. That would mean that 3 of the top 4 in this week’s standings (Louis, Joe D., Giacomo and Steve) could go on to win money and add to that statistic!
Note: The only exception was Season 13, where only 1 of the top 4 in the week #1 standings went on to finish in the money at the end of the season, and he finished in 4th place. Personally, I prefer the latter statistic over the former one :).
Welcome Back to HockeyDraft.ca
Once again this year, I have subscribed us to the HockeyDraft website. In addition to the daily Excel file updates on this website, we are also using the services of HockeyDraft.ca to track our standings and stats. Please select the link and login. Our userid is “franchiseboys” and password is our usual password. Enjoy!
Note: Please use this site to see how your players are doing during the opening week of the season. The Excel spreadsheets will only be ready once every team has played at least one game.
