E2 of “The Informant”

14 November, 2008 (01:09) | HOCKEY TALK | By: Giacomo

Let’s face it… Louis is the star here so there is no need for an S in “The Informants” while he’s running the show. In any case, we received some very tough questions this week from both Nick and Jose. Let’s see what The Informant had to say.

NM- Why are there no trades thus far in the season?

A-      let’s face it, nobody wants plumbers, brick layers or injured players…….and will   someone tell that GM to stop whinning about his injured players….can it…you’re making the rest of us feel good…..and talking about GM ,  more layoffs are scheduled in the very near future…..Don Cherry  was right,  imports are killing the North American markets…to paraphrase Plato’s famous doctrine ..everything is  “ déjà vu “ .

NM- What position is more valuable in our pool..goalie, defenseman or

forward?

A-     hands down the goalies are more valuable…they are very scarce,  very difficult to identify under all that equipment, and they never ask to be replaced…….they stress  “ the puck stops here “ .

NM- How will the new president-elect OBAMA help the NHL and the US money-losing teams?

A-   the right move for BARAKA is to offer NHL franchises to the Arab countries in exchange for crude oil…….forget the European market, they have nothing to exchange…….well maybe a few good cars.

JL- As you observe the league today, there are a number of senior citizens (in hockey standards) that are performing very well, what do you make of it?

A-   Senior citizens are the back bone to this league…they bring experience, knowledge, sage, wisdom,  and if you look into their hockey bag, you’ll  find geritol, absorbine jr, anabolic steroids and Grecian formula 44.

GD- What is your stance regarding Bob Gainey’s so called preference in signing players after years end?

A-    I would not call it preference… more like what’s left of the litter…..cause all the other GM’s have signed players during the season….the old saying , first come, first choice……and don’t give me the crap about salary cap.

N.B.  no animals were abused during this interview.

E1 of “THE INFORMANTS”

6 November, 2008 (23:59) | HOCKEY TALK | By: Giacomo

I sat down with Mr Louis Cortina himself recently and here is what he had to say.

Q1. What are your thoughts on the Canadiens successful 1st month capturing 17 points out of a possible 20?

A- ok, let’s face it, it’s all about the Price…ever since his dis-association with the Club, and jumped over to Costco, with performance and lots of luck, the Habs have been successful.  You gotta call a clover a clover.

Q2.  Have Tangauy, Lang and Laraque met your expectations thus far this season?

A-  is this our new accounting firm, that will monitor & tabulate the final results, given the fact we are too busy coaching and managing our teams.

Q3. There is an article in cyberspace in which confirms that Alex Kovalev is actually Jewish. Is this fact or fiction?

A- Well, have you recently taken a good look at the size of his nose…he could very well be Jewish, Covalenski, or maybe Italian,  Covalera…………

Q4. 1 month into the season who are your surprises/disappointments so far?

A- The big surprise thus far was the realization of our new hockey website….a 2 year wait. The disappoints of course, the economic decline along with the fall of our Canadian dollar.

Q5. What adjustment will New Jersey make given the loss of Brodeur for the next 3 to 4 months?

A- Let me tell you this,  Amarillo better get on the telephonie, plenty of goalies out there,,  if you build it, they will come. And Steve, you have more magic than Cinderella and her plastic Prince…ah , suck on a hairy nipple.

Q6. There is much talk around the league about the lack of goals during hockey games…your views on this?

A- Did anyone bother to ask the goalies…….these guys are doing the job they are paid to do….now there’s talk about making the nets bigger and goalie equipment smaller…well this will bring a new meaning to the term  < a 2 goalie system  > and I’m not talking back-up.

That’s all for this week but stay tuned to another Episode of “THE INFORMANTS”
