Senators-Bruins Game to Determine Title Winner

28 April, 2013 (07:55) | HOCKEY TALK | By: Nick

Both the Boston Bruins and Ottawa Senators will have something to play for in Sunday’s game, which is the only game remaining in the NHL’s 2013 regular season.

 HockeyDraft

Turris and Soderberg are up against Seguin to determine who will win the 17th edition of the Franchise Boys Hockey Pool. Palleria has a slim 1 point lead over DiTomaso and also has 2 players in today’s contest. What a thrilling finish to the season.

Somewhat less important, Boston needs any kind of win against Ottawa to take the division title (which is currently held by the Montreal Canadiens with a slim 1 point lead). If the Bs win they get the Islanders in round 1 and the Habs get the Leafs. If the Bs lose they get the Leafs and the Habs get the Sens. Ottawa has a lot on the line. If they lose today, they get the Penguins in round 1.

Enjoy the game!

Maple Leafs will end their Playoff Drought

13 April, 2013 (08:33) | HOCKEY TALK | By: Nick

Did you know…. The Toronto Maple Leafs are the only NHL team to go the entire seven-year stretch between Gary Bettman’s most recent lockouts without qualifying for a playoff spot? Yep… not one time were they one of the best eight teams in the Eastern Conference. Barring an incredible late-season collapse over the next two weeks, the Maple Leafs are going to end the longest playoff drought in team history and qualify for the postseason for the first time since the 2003-04 season.

To commemorate the end of an era (and what a beautiful era it was), here’s last year’s hilarious rant from CBC’s Rex Murphy on The National  weighing in on the Maple Leafs who had taken out a full page ad apologising to their fans for being losers:
